AHHHHH

I have so much work to do this weekend ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! sooooo stresseddddddddd

Thanksgiving Break

Over Thanksgiving my dad had some business to do in Naples, Florida, so me my mom my dad and my brother went down to spend turkey day on our own. We usually cook a huge traditional feast with my whole family, but this year we would be eating somewhere in a hotel, which I was pretty worked up over. I was expecting sunny 80 degree weather and warm waters, but no it was rainy and colder than it was in Philly. It was very weird eating thanksgiving just with my direct family and ordering turkey off a menu, but it was very good and I ended up having a lot of fun in cold rainy Florida

the Tank Man

The Tank Man is a world famous image because it shows one person standing up against a huge power to fight for what he believes in. The fact that he is an unidentified person adds to the mystery and power of being an icon for many around he world. By being an anonymous person, it sends the message that anyone can stand up for what they believe in, and gives hope to civilians trying to stand up for themselves like the tank man did.

photoshop project

Eileen Neff

This weeks lecture was yet another one that was hard to follow. If the microphone worked better and actualy carried her voice accross the room, then it would be easyer to concentrate on what she was saying. She had a very interesting style, even though I did not particularly care for some of her work. I like how she displayed her art, because she thought of how they all looked as a whole not just as individual pieces. It is interesting how in some exhibits she even put all of her peieces together to make one larger piece of art. Most of her photography was interesting to look at, but others I could not understand as well. Such as, she used the same landscape for multiple pieces, and I did not find the landscape to be anything very interesting to look at. Overall she was a interesting artist and even though the presentation was not the most energetic and fun, her art was refreshing and creative.

Sharon Louden

I really enjoyed this lecture. It was refreshing how she was so animated and energetic, and the fact that we could actually HEAR what the speaker was saying for once was nice. Her glow in the dark work was genious, I would love to have one in my house. They are so unique and now I am inspired to use glow in the dark supplies as well. The animations I did not like as much though...they were very slow and felt like it needed something else, sound wouldnt have hurt. Maybe some of her husbands jazz or SOMETHING. Overall she was a very inspiring woman who was very passionate about her work and I enjoyed the speech.

my weekend

This weekend I went home to visit some of my old friends from my high school who are all on fall break right now. Why Temple does not believe in fall break, I will never know. I love going home as much as I can, so I enjoyed just hanging around the house with my friends and doing things we did back when we were in high school. It was very weird hearing all of my friends stories from their college experiences and noticing how some of them have changed already, both in good ways and in bad ways. I am lucky my friends all keep in touch so well, and I cant wait till the next time I can see them.

photoshop :)

I love working with photoshop so much, it is and always has been one of my favorite things to do. The cleanness of the lines, the amount of things we can do with the tools, and most importantly the edit undo button make photoshop so much fun to fiddle around with. I have always just played around with the tools on my own so I love actually learning what some of the buttons I have never figured out are. I cant wait to see what assignments we get using photoshop next.

Philip Glahn's talk

Philip Glahns talk made me start thinking of how technology has changed peoples view of art today. The labor involved in drawing a piece of art now seems unnecessary and a waste of time because of new programs such as Photoshop and digital photography. But I still feel that the are is a quality in a hand drawn piece of art or a hand painted painting that will never be topped by any computer program, no matter how advanced. There is a good quality to both original pieces of art and digital art through technology, one will never be good enough to replace the other all together.

Creativity Strangled

Even though it was hard to understand, I thought the video "Creativity Strangled" was very interesting. I never thought of how technology could possibly be limiting creativity because I was born into a era where technology is central to all of our lives so I do not know the difference between how things were before technology and how things are now. One of the most interesting points was how programs on the internet such as Facebook or Youtube connect people, and by working on these programs we are doing things for the love of what we are doing, not for the money. That concept has been forgotten because of different kinds of technology but now it is being realized again because of new technology.

From Fishing Trip

From Feel of the City
From Feel of the City

Philly adventure

Tonight I went out of Temple campus into center city Philadelphia. It was my first time using the Philadelphia subway, and it proved to be just as fast and cheap as the subway in New York City. I arrived at the Walnut street stop, and when I emerged from the subway stairs, I was in awe at how gorgeous and clean center city was compared to where I went into the subway back at Temple. I probably stopped and stared at the Kimmel Center for a good 10 minuets because it was so beautiful.

beach adventure :)

This weekend my family and I decided to go to the beach. All of my family came from around the country and spent three days and two nights with us. My dad made the suggestion that we all go out on the boat to go fishing. During our venture I managed to catch a starfish, even though that was not what we were planning on catching. We had a few nibbles, but for some reason the fish didn't want to get caught. Between reeling in monster globs of seaweed to getting my line tangled in the propeller of the boat, it was a disaster. It was really cold and windy out so it didn't really feel like summer, but it was still fun. At least now I know that I should never become a pro fisherman.
